Interesting 09

I was lucky enough to go to Russell DaviesInteresting 09 this weekend.

Fascinating. A whole day of short talks about interesting stuff. What could be better?

Here’s a list of speakers and what they talked about.

If you’re interested, the slide in the photo was from a talk about Francis Galton who invented the questionnaire (woo), the weather map (yay), the dog whistle (wow) and eugenics (boo). He also wrote this fantastic book called The Art Of Travel that recommends steering horses across rivers by their tails and suggests that when going to a “rich, but imperfectly civilised country” the traveller should hide gemstones in little silver tubes in the flesh of their left arm in case he was robbed of everything he wore. Genius.
