HEADS - Headborne Energy Analysis and Diagnostic System is a modular, helmet-integrated sensor package that records the severity of impacts to the head.
“HEADS consists of the sensor which is mounted in the crown of the combat helmet, the software to perform computational analysis of traumatic events and an optional wireless antenna which can be used to interrogate the sensor for data when it is placed in close proximity. Alternatively, the HEADS sensor can be interrogated via a USB connection directly to a laptop.”

Marcin Ignac alongside Jakob Eg Larsen and Arek Stopczynski from the Danish Technical University tracked mobile phones with Bluetooth enabled and discoverable as they moved around the Roskilde Festival.
“The height of different parts of the festival area represents number of detected devices over time. The color was assigned to every scanning point depending on it’s proximity to one of the stages.”
I like that this is taking some of the thinking from the MIT Senseable City Lab and applying it to something at a slightly smaller scale.

“I was interested in visualizing not only where these runs were taking place, but also, at what time of day. I decided to create a timelapse video, displaying each individual route at the time of day it took place. Moreover, I elected to use a map of New York City, but rather, let the running data generate a map of New York City as the runners move throughout the city. Paths, streets, and bridges all start to emerge as the day goes on and more runners move through the city.”
Cooper Smith made a visualisation of 1,000 Nike+ runs in New York City.
